In 1993, the Cuban government issued a law allowing the creation of small private businesses in family spots.
This way, La Fontana restaurant was created in 1995 by two young university students, Horacio and Ernesto, who joined their knowledge, talent and intelligence to create a place that offered a unique menu in the country.
The restaurant is located at the Reyes Lovio's Family residence, a modern mansion surrounded by a peaceful environment in Miramar, which is one of the most elegant and fashionable neighbourhood in Havana.
Today, La Fontana is among the most prestigious restaurants in Cuba. It is the place where the locals and tourists come together to enjoy the best grill in town. Its open kitchen offers more than 60 dishes that surprise your palate, combining Cuban traditional and new cuisine scented with charcoal and prepared with the best local produce. It is specialized in grilled meat and fish, coast snappers, appetizers and cuts of beef. Charcoal-grilled octopus in pesto sauce and house cold meat are also served; all these dishes are accompanied by traditional Cuban ones as black beans, tamales, grilled vegetables and mashed food.
We have a tapas bar that offers national and international cocktails. Yerbabuena Bar is a point of meeting to enjoy cold or hot tapas and entrees accompanied by refreshing Cuban cocktails and an excellent wine list. The walls treasures draws from important contemporary Cuban plastic artists who have traced directly on the walls, creating an intimate and warm atmosphere.
La Fontana is a highly sophisticated style restaurant. The ambience is perfect for gourmets; decorated with plenty of green plants, water falls, fountains with ornamental fishes and multiple objects from different origins and styles, as well as sculptures and installations made by the most outstanding contemporary Cuban plastic artists; all these is accompanied by live or incidental music. In La Floresta room, tables are disposed around an open-roof patio; La Estancia Room, on the contrary, is a closed and acclimatised room.
